Shutting down speakers elevates their message and frees them from having their ideas scrutinized. Frankly, violence and mayhem only strengthen authoritarian movements. There are many, many ways to stand in opposition to a person you disagree with. As educators, we have a role in encouraging students to do so in such a way that rights are respected. To accomplish that goal, our communities can and should engage in counterprogramming, creating alternative events and gathering spaces, signaling to students that while everyone has the right to speak, our communities can come together in rejecting hateful messages. As leaders, we have the power of the bully pulpit to condemn offensive ideas even when we must also defend a speakers right to express them. What we must not do is stand silent the very reason we defend someone elses right to speak is because we must treasure and exercise our own. Educators have the opportunity to teach the next generation of leaders and citizens that more speech and more understanding are the tools with which to preserve and defend their rights.

Analysis of â€Å"The cask of Amontillado† and â€Å"A Rose for Emily† In this paper, I choose the Gothic fictions â€Å"The Cask of Amontillado† and â€Å"A Rose for Emily† to compare. I like them as these two works are very exciting with suspense. Next I will compare them on three aspects. The first is the theme. A Rose for Emily, written by William Faulkner, is a short story about the life and death of Miss Emily Grierson. The reader is told the story in flashback. Its structure is broken down into five individual sections, which make up a masterpiece. It presents the change of Southern society after the American Civil War. This novel has its own special features in the characterization and description of the themes. Compassion and Forgiveness is a major theme that we can find in the story, it might not be apparent at first. We almost have to be told that these sentiments are behind A Rose for Emily before we can see them. The story is also about love, maybe its not romantic and passionate, but it always inadvertently revealed a trace of love in some details. It is not simple anymore. There are four main terms that make up how you show your gender; Gender Identity, Gender Expression, Gender Role, and Sexual Orientation. Your Gender Identity is how you perceive yourself and what you call yourself. One’s gender identity can be the same or different than the sex you were born with. Most people develop a gender identity that matches their biological sex. For some, however, their gender identity is different from their biological sex. Some of these individuals choose to socially, hormonally and/or surgically change their sex to match their gender identity.
